Like the persuasive viewpoint sketched in A Subterranean Clothesline–Thinking Outside of the Dryer. I was looking at all these annotations and noticed that many of them are really exclusively for the connections. I thought about skipping over your blog because of it but decided instead to just join in. There is no smoke without a fire and on that point there are no comments without postings.

Lovely. If your basement is small (like mine), a small electric fan - ideally the oscillating kind - anywhere near the area the clothes are in can speed drying greatly and make the clothes smell even better.

(The amount of electricity a fan uses is so small as to be insignificant, perhaps 10-20x less than an electric dryer.)

Lyanda, I was introduced to your site this a.m.
Love it! I, too, have always hung my clothes outside and agree with all your commentors. Even now, I "sneek" many of my clothes outside and out of view from the golfers. I remember my mother, with cloth in hand, walking up and down the rows wiping the lines down before hanging the clothes. Janet

Lyanda,
Hooray for your wonderful blog! I look forward to your postings everyday :) My life is so busy and it is such a treat to read your wonderful ideas and try them. We made our sweat pea teepee last weekend and am going to make your granola. We have a hanging area in our basement as well-a good reminder to use it more. Would love to swing by and tour your garden this spring and catch up.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Heck..I just hang my clothes on hangers, wet, on a bar in the basement. When they're dry, it's quick work to just shove them in the closet. I think that my clothes last longer not being dried. I still dry Seth's jeans, towels, and bed sheets in the dryer and now I'm inspired to see if I can get more hanging room in our small basement. Thanks Lyanda!

In wet Seattle weather my mother hung our family's clothes on lines that crossed our basement. On dry days the clothes were hung outside. To this day I love the smell of air dried sheets.

Wow, that's genius--I want one!

Indoor clothes line also means slim to nil chance of finding a fetid bird poo in your sock. Just don't hang synthetics right next to the furnace...

Great blog!

This is great. I've always loved to hang clothes out. Where we live now is the first house that I have been without a clothesline outside. We have never had a basement, but would certainly have had a clothesline if we did. But there is nothing fresher than sheets dried outside on a sunny spring day.
