Our tree has always been a sun-and-moon tree, that is all the ornaments are either stars or suns or moons. But I love the idea of glitter on dried poppy heads. Maybe next year's tree will be full of all natural items, like glittery pine cones and poppy seed pods.

Thank you so much for these fabulous ideas! On Sunday, my little girls had a few neighborhood girls over for an ornament decorating party. I made the flour and salt ornaments ahead of time (for the first time ever) and they did the painting. It was fun for all and I can't wait to try these ideas too!
P.S. thanks for the peanut butter recipe too. That's what our relatives get this year as part of their christmas gifts.

Erica and Maureen--thank you, ladies!

Matt--the bike chain stars are so cool! Think we'll try it. (You are a fine hatmaker, btw.)

Kristen--great to see you, too! Thanks for stopping in. I remember the walnut ornaments. So pretty.

It was fun seeing you at QA Books the other day! We made ornaments from walnut shells when I was in grade school - two halves glued back together, with a loop of ribbon between the halves for hanging.

These are some great ideas. We've made the cinnamon applesauce ornaments this season with our pre-schoolers, but I've also made some little star ornaments from leftover bicycle chains (you only need 5 complete links, a chain tool, and superglue. like this: http://bit.ly/7yIWrB)

Inspired! I love them all- but especially the mushroom. And I am sure that the smell of the fir is complemented by the baking cookies!
